Chinese President Xi Jinping has hosted Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and the UAE’s Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed in Beijing. Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is also in the capital for talks on the US-Israeli war on Iran and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. China has criticised the US military deployment, calling it “dangerous and irresponsible”, and urged parties to honour the ceasefire. A Chinese-owned oil tanker became the first vessel to pass through the Strait since the US imposed the blockade.
